3.1 · Time Away from Work and Other Benefits
Employee Benefits
The Company maintains a range of employee benefit programs that complement the regular wages paid to employees. These benefits carry significant additional value and are intended to support employees and their families.
The benefit plans the Company offers are governed by formal legal instruments such as insurance contracts and summary plan descriptions. If a question arises about the nature or scope of a benefit, or if there is any conflict between a description in this Handbook and the underlying plan documents, the formal plan documents control. Plan documents are available for review where applicable. The Company and the administrators it designates retain the authority to determine eligibility and to interpret and administer all matters related to the benefits offered.
Eligibility for benefits varies according to an employee's position and classification.
Full time employees are generally eligible for all employment benefits the Company offers. Part time employees are eligible for the benefits identified in this section, and certain part time benefits may be provided on a prorated basis. Temporary employees do not receive Company benefits other than those required by law. For some benefits, eligible employees must satisfy participation requirements and contribute toward premiums or other costs.
Employees who would like more detail about any benefit should contact Human Resources.
This Handbook describes the benefit plans currently in place. For specific questions, consult the actual plan documents and summary plan descriptions, which are controlling. Coverage under any plan becomes effective in accordance with the plan's terms and applicable state and federal law. The Affordable Care Act and other federal or state laws may affect eligibility, coverage, and waiting periods.
All employee benefit programs are administered by the Company or its designated administrators. The Company and its administrators reserve the exclusive authority and discretion to determine eligibility, to interpret and administer each program, and to increase, decrease, modify, or terminate benefits or eligibility requirements at any time and for any reason, subject to the terms of the plans and any legal restrictions. Employees will be informed of any changes.
