Jury or Witness Duty

More actions

The Company encourages employees to fulfill their civic responsibilities by responding to jury summonses and subpoenas, attending court for prospective jury service, and serving as jurors or witnesses under court order. Employees will not be terminated, coerced, or penalized for requesting or taking leave under this policy.

Employees who receive a jury summons, subpoena, or court order must give their supervisor notice within a reasonable time after receiving it and before any required appearance. The Company may ask for verification from the court clerk of the employee's service or appearance.

Time spent attending court for prospective jury service or for serving as a juror or witness is unpaid, except that exempt employees will not have their pay reduced for any partial week's absence due to jury or witness duty. Employees may use available PTO, personal leave, or compensatory time off to cover time spent responding to a summons or subpoena, participating in jury selection, or serving as a juror or witness. Employees may keep any mileage allowance or other fees the court pays for this service.

Employees on jury or witness duty are expected to report or return to work for the rest of their scheduled workday once they have been dismissed from court.
