Military Spouse Leave

More actions

Florida law provides limited unpaid leave for the spouses of deployed service members in certain circumstances, and the federal Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) protects the employment rights of service members and, in defined situations, their families. As a Company benefit, employees who work more than 20 hours per week and whose spouse is a member of the Armed Forces, National Guard, or Reserves and has been deployed during a period of military conflict are eligible for up to 10 unpaid days off when the spouse is on leave from (rather than returning from) military deployment.

Employees must notify their supervisor and submit a written request for this leave to Human Resources within two business days of receiving official notice that the spouse will be on leave. Written documentation certifying that the spouse will be on leave from deployment must be attached to the request.
