School Discipline Leave

More actions

Florida does not have a statute requiring employers to provide leave for school discipline matters. As a Company policy, however, employees who are the parent or custodial guardian of a child in kindergarten or grades one through 12 may, at the Company's discretion, take time off to attend a school conference involving a possible suspension of their child.

To be eligible for this leave, the child must live with the employee, and the employee must give advance notice that the school has requested the parent's appearance.

The Company may ask for documentation, such as a copy of the school's notice or other certification, indicating that the employee's presence at the school is required.

Employees who take this leave may use available PTO or other accrued paid time off.

School visits for other purposes may be addressed under the Company's School Visitation Leave policy.
