Personal Electronic Devices and Telephone Calls

More actions

The Company permits employees to bring personal electronic devices such as cellular phones, smartphones, and tablets into the workplace, but employees are reminded that working time is intended for work.

Personal phone calls and other use of personal electronic devices should be limited to nonworking time, including authorized meal and rest breaks. Outside of those periods, personal communication should be kept to a minimum and reserved for emergencies.

Personal cell phones must be powered off or set to silent during working hours.

Employees may not use a cell phone to send text messages while working directly with a patient. The only exception is to contact a supervisor when necessary.

When operating a vehicle on Company business, employees must comply with the Florida Ban on Texting While Driving Law (Florida Statutes Section 316.305) and with restrictions on handheld wireless device use in school zones and active work zones (Florida Statutes Section 316.306).

Personal electronic devices may not be used in the work environment (including off-site work-related functions) to display or transmit sexually explicit content, ethnic slurs, racial epithets, or any other content that could reasonably be considered harassment or disparagement of others.
